This is a snapshot copy of Planewalker before our recent database crash. Please go to for the current site.

We have moved to new, and hopefully better hardware! Along with this move came a bunch of updates to our code base. Please let me know if you spot something wonky.

Devorn's Handy Guide to the Sigil Cant

The Great Hippo's picture

Before a newcomer engages in the intricacies of Sigil's politics, it's a good idea that they understand the nature of its slang. In order to help the layman and newcomer to the Cage to figure out the meaning of various words, we've included a small selection of phrases and their basic 'rough' translation in common for your perusal.Cutter - The word's rough meaning stems from 'cutting someone down to size'. Generally meant as an insult or threat. To call someone a 'cutter' is to basically tell them you're going to somehow damage their ego, through words or action.

More Faction Feats: Bleakers

Nemui's picture

Chapter IV of the Planescape Campaign Setting presents 9 faction feats for each faction. The number nine being 3 times 3, its in accord with the Rule of Threes, but theres still room for improvement. Whats better than 3 x 3, you ask? Well, for starters, 3 x 3 x 3, or three to the third degree.

Of Fear

Zadara the Titan's picture

We all know fear. Apprehension in difficult situations. The fear for loved ones. Panic even, when all we thought we knew crumbles around us. But it is a natural thing. Instincts of self-preservation come to the fore to warn us from impending danger. Surely there can be nothing harmful in that?

Visions out of time

Zadara the Titan's picture

"You come to me seeking wisdom. Know, that everything I am going to tell you is a lie. Know, that even if I knew the truth, I could not speak of it. Know, that no matter what you do to me, my words will remain the same, for they are all that stands between me and the vision that seeks to burn my mind. Now listen, while I will lie to you about ends that are beginnings."

Balthasar Thames

Loki De Carabas's picture
"Oh, my home is unimportant, a boring little demiplane where little of import happens. Not at all like the elemental purity of the Inner Planes or the infinite variety of the Prime's Crystal Spheres. Have you ever noticed how the spheres of the Prime vary according to their substance/belief ratio? Fascinating…."

"Who is our next claimant?" asked Utadas Tensar, trying not to look bored."A group calling themselves the Meatworkers Guild," said Jeena Ealy."I've never heard of them," said Elahassa Merem, seeming puzzled."Formally the Temple of Light and Darkness, formally the Dustmen," said Jeena."Oh," said Elahassa. "Them.""Oh, Mystra's paps!" Gregory Holmin swore. "Not them again!""They change their name every week," Cirily said dismisively."Shouldn't they?" asked Rhys, with a slight smile.
