Charrdh smiles as MG asks his question.

"The most important thing my mentor ever told me is this: Almost everything is improbable, yet most of it is real..."

"By the way, Charrdh, before we leave..." Ian reaches into his haversack and pulls out the three Ioun stones, the box, and the seven pages (from the illithid) and the small rod, ice-like box, book, silver saphire necklace, pouches, and heart shaped jewel (from the sucubi) and sets them all on the table.

"Any chance you could identify some of this stuff for us? We... aquired these on our trip, and haven't had time to fully examine them. It would be unfortunete if one of these items could be of use where we are going, and we didn't know it." Ian says with a smile.

As Ian begins unpacking, Charrdh quickly makes a waving gesture. "PLEASE don't unpack magical items of unknown power or origin in my rooms. I'm not a big friend of accidental death... or worse. To answer your question, it'd take too long to do that now, but I can give you a couple of identification scrolls for your trip."

"Fair enough." Ian says, putting the items back in his pack.
Ian looks around the room. "So, is there anything else we need to address?"
He snaps his fingers. "Oh! Right, spell keys."
"The guide that we hired to help us on Baator said that spell keys would be very very useful. I was wondering if you had one that we might borrow for Baator, since you were there before when that sphere was originally collected. Or is that something we should track down on the other side of the gate?"

"I have something even better... I assume."

He opens a drawer of his table, and takes out a little silver ring with a small purple gem on its top. "This is Ladavir's Casting Ring - any single person can use it once in life for a span of three days in a row. The one who puts it on can cast perfectly on any plane and layer without spell keys. It's activated by putting it on, and deactivated by putting it off - simple thing."

He ponders for a moment, then adds, "There are rumours about a drawback, though. It's said that since it can adapt the wearer to any plane, it also... draws the wearer to that plane, unless he or she has a will strong enough to resist that."

"Sounds good. If our time runs out, we'll track down one on the other side."

Ioan looks over at Ophelia and says "You should take the ring, unless Saath happens to be some sort of wizard." Ian looks at Saat questioningly.

'Ha! I'm no spellslinger if that's what you mean. That trinket can be put to better use curled 'round someone else's finger.'

'One more important question; what's the pay us bashers can be looking forward to?'

Charrdh opens another drawer, and pulls out a small leather bag that he places on the table.

"Inside this bag, you'll find gems with a standard Sigil value of two hundred thousand gold pieces. This is my payment in advance for the entire group - you can split it up as you like. This is additional to what I promised before - Saath, you'll also get your full share, of course..."

He seems irritated for a moment, then looks at Ian. "What was our deal so far? Anyway, after the successful mission you'll receive one of these bags for each of you, plus two magical items of your choice from my public collection."

"The original deal was 4000, 2000 in advance, plus 10000 each for equipment." Ian replies, casually pocketing the bag of gems.
Well divide these up later... when we have time.

*Blackthornes notices ian slip the gems into his pocket and makes a mental note of it.*
"Alright, so in addition to our payment we are getting the gems ian grabbed and two items of our choice from your wears? if I misunderstood please inform me of so now."

OOC: yay! home computer works....thats good.

'That sounds like a fair amount of jink for this job,' Saath nods.
'Unless any of you lot have more questions I think we can be on our way, eh?'

"You said the tower was in a nameless city. Will our means of transport deposit us within veiw of this city? Or are there supplied means to find it? Because as much fun as being lost in the abyss sounds..." Ian lets the sentance hang.

"You'll end up roughly in the city's center. If the city hasn't changed much in the last six months, you'll be transported into an old ruin, one of the few at least somewhat stable buildings over there."

"Sounds great," Charrdh replies. Looking at everyone else one by one, he adds, "So, you're ready to go?"

As if he heard Charrdh's words, Naruk slowly finds back his consciousness. Slightly moaning, he grabs his head, then takes a quick look around. "By them powers... are we ready to go already?"

Hearing Naruk speak, Ian spins around. "Naruk, excellent timeing. How do you feel?"

"I'm... fine, I guess." He hesitates, takes a deep breath, then nods. "Yes... better than I felt since a long, long time. I'm ready to go whereever we go."

For the first time since they know him, the adventurers see Naruk smiling a wide, honest smile which leaves not even the smallest piece of bitterness in his face.

"I'm ready," he repeats.

"Glad to hear it. However, there has been a slight change in plans. I'm not sure what you could see and hear after those worms got to you, but the Wee Jas Priestess and the Cat-thing seem to have abandoned us in the middle of the fight. Well, at least it happened here, and not in Baator."

"Speaking of which, we need to make a detour. Apparently Charrdh attracted the attention of a time traveling assassin who cant travel to before he was born. So we're headed to the Abyss to use a time-gate to go into the past. And find a solution to all this before it begins."

Ian turns to Charrdh. "Did I miss anything important?"

"No, I think that's it."

Naruk blinks twice, then shakes his head. "Okay... that's unexpected, but interesting. I'm ready to go. What about everyone else?"

Ophelia nods, explaining, "We can start - but we should be prepared for battle, just in case. I'll have a few spells ready on my lips, and the non-spellslingers should have their weapons ready."

Ian extends his arm full length, pointed at the ground. With a snap of his fingers, he is suddenly holding his rapier.
"Wel, I've got my rapier, Blackthornes has a blade of his own, The masked gnoll has..." Ian looks at the Masked Gnoll "... The masked Gnoll, and..." Ian looks at Saath. "I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but what exactly do you do? You said you're not a spellchucker, but that still leaves alot of options."

Saath shows Ian a mischievous smile and puts on some sort of rough, metal gloves. He then extends his right hand and concentrates. Only a second later a shining, light blue blade appears. The blade seems to be made of energy alone and Saath grasps air where a normal sword would be held. With his left hand he takes his shield off his back, says the command word and lets it float in front of him.

'I'm a basher,' Saath grins.

He then stays quiet for around ten seconds, appearing to be concentrating, while the sword grows twice as big, making him hold it in two hands. Finally, with a determined look on his face, he says:
'Let's go then.'

MG takes his massive flindbars out from their belt loops then looks down into his napsack.....

"Things may get a little scary Ms. Daisy, but whatever you do, don't stick your head out, o.k.? And if I tell you to cover your ears you gotta do it. I don't want you to hear some of the things I might have to do to people or persons or fiends. Just listen to me and we'll be fine."

Massive eyes survey the rest of the party

"Lets go!"

Charrdh smiles. "Good to see you all so motivated."

He turns around to the mirror behind him, touches him and mutters an incomprehensible word. A moment later, the mirror turns into an ash-grey whirlwind of light. While it seems as if this whirlwind sucks in everything close to it, neither Charrdh nor his clothes or equipment seem to be in any way affected by it.

"Here's your portal, bloods."

To those remaining in the room, it looks like Ian's body is sucked into the whirlwind, his body impossibly bended at its center, and stretched almost infinitely as parts of his body disappear in the distance, while his hand and feet remain close to the mirror for a long second. A blink of an eye later, the rest of his body follows, and he vanishes in the grey whirlwind.

Charrdh nods to the others. "You should hurry. The portal stays open only a short time."

Each of the characters enters the portal, and are sucked in the same way as Ian. After entering the portal, though, all they perceive is a whirling sensation in their brains and bellies - and a moment later, they have ground under their feet again...
